2008 Gibbs Endowment Fund
The family of William and therese Gibbs has established a Maquoketa Valley Dollars for Scholars Memorial Endowment Fund. The Earnings from this endowment will award a scholarship every year to a graduating Maquoketa Valley student who plans to further their education.
William Gibbs grew up in the Earlville area and therese Dingbaum Gibbs grew up in the Petersburg/Earlville area. They were united in marriage on October 4, 1950 and farmed south of Earlville for many years while raising eleven children. All eleven children have attended Maquoketa Valley some time during their educational years, and now many of their grandchildren are also attending and graduating from Maquoketa Valley.
Education was very important to William and Therese Gibbs, and they enjoyed having their children and grandchildren participate in the many curricular and extra-curricular activities offered at Maquoketa Valley. The family of William and Therese Gibbs is happy to have their parents' commitment to education live on through the Maquoketa Valley Dollars for Scholars memorial endowment fund.
